It’s never too late to get active. That’s the mantra behind The National Veterans Golden Age Games, which kicked off in Buffalo last Thursday and comes to an end tomorrow. More than 700 senior Veterans gathered for the 27th annual event to compete in events like cycling, swimming, horseshoes, shot put, air rifle shooting, and more.
There’s power behind the physical act of sports than can be therapeutic and preventative when it comes to health. This annual event gets older Vets together to give them a new challenge, and in effect builds the same camaraderie instilled in service—something difficult to recreate once the uniform comes off.
We’re continuously updating photos from the event. Follow @VAAdaptiveSport and #NVGAG on Twitter through tomorrow, and check out our wrap-up video from last year to see what the event has meant to past participants.
