Join VHA’s Office of Connected Care and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at noon ET for a Facebook Live event demonstrating VA Video Connect.

Dr. Neil Evans,  Connected Care chief officer, and Army Veteran Ryan Gallucci, VFW National Veterans service director, will provide a demonstration of the video appointment technology and discuss VA Telehealth Services.

With VA Video Connect, Veterans can use technology they already have, like a personal computer, tablet or smartphone, to connect with their VA care teams. It provides a secure, live video appointment session that Veterans can attend from the comfort of their homes or while on vacation. The application functions similarly to other mainstream video telehealth services, but uniquely works with VA clinic scheduling technology and VA secure health information databases to ensure security and privacy.

This past July marks the first anniversary since VA Video Connect launched to Veterans nationwide. To date, more than 100,000 video visits have been logged using VA Video Connect, and about 700 video appointments are conducted every day. It’s helping Veterans overcome traditional barriers to health care – such as geography or transportation – and providing them with access their health care regardless of their location. The upcoming Facebook Live event will help you learn how it works.
