#VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Lawrence M. Karels

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Lawrence M Karels. Lawrence served from 1983 to 2007.

Lawrence is from Moorehead, Minnesota. He earned degrees in Accounting and Marketing from Moorehead State University.

Lawrence served in one of the longest combat deployments in recent history, which totaled 475 days. As a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Lawrence’s duties included patrolling the streets of Baghdad.

Lawrence earned the rank of Sergeant. He also earned many awards including the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal. On May 14, 2011, Lawrence married his wife, Cynthia.
