Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Michael Dennis Nestell. Michael served from 1997 to 2017.
After completing basic training as a fire support specialist, Michael was assigned to combat zones in Bosnia and Kosovo from February to August 1999. He then went to Afghanistan from 2007 to 2010, followed by the United Arab Emirates from 2012 to 2013. He retired on May 31, 2017 as a Sergeant First Class.
Michael received many medals throughout his service, including the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal. Michael is a member of the Apache Tribe and received recognition for his service by the Kiowa-Apache Blackfoot Society.
