Spotlight Vacancy: Chief Academic Affiliations Officer – Physician

The Department of Veterans Affairs is hiring an experienced Physician to fill the role of Chief Academic Affiliations Officer. When you work for VA, the most important characteristic you will have is dedication to our Mission and our Values—dedication to our Veterans.

That mission is to fulfill President Lincoln’s promise – “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphans” – by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s Veterans.

The core values we have embraced across the Department spell out I CARE – Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. These core values define who we are, our culture and how we care for Veterans and their families.

The Physician selected as Chief Academic Affiliations Officer will coordinate all strategic and tactical functions of OAA – The Office of Academic Affiliations. OAA serves as the focal point in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) for the development, analysis, oversight and evaluation of policies, guidelines, and programs relating to academic affiliations and the professional education of health professional trainees.

Physicians like Fabia, Deputy Chief of Staff, thrive at VA.

As you can imagine, we are looking for a results-driven leader who embodies VA’s mission and vision. There will be many opportunities to interact and collaborate with representatives from VHA’s Central Office, VHA’s health care facilities, Veterans Integrated Service Networks, professional organizations, medical schools, accrediting bodies, the community and the public to provide information on VHA’s health profession training programs and assurance of the highest quality of clinical education.

A complete listing of all duties and requirements can be found on our job posting here. However, the fully licensed Physician will be a U.S. Citizen who possesses and can demonstrate the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) of: Leading Change, Leading People, Results Driven, Business Acumen, Building Coalitions. Achievements and accomplishments in these specific areas will be key to a successful application.

If this sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you. Please follow the instructions listed on the job posting. Or, we encourage you to pass this along to colleagues or those Physicians you know who match the criteria and expertise we are looking for at VA. We all have the same goal of serving and caring for our Veterans.
