- At VA, we are collaborating with U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the White House to help Veterans find meaningful work through the “Hiring Our Heroes” program. Find a list of hiring events located throughout the country from July 19 to July 30, 2012.
- We’re tasked with supporting those who need us most, including Veterans who are struggling with homelessness. And Secretary Shinseki has just announced that nearly $100 million in grants will help over 40,000 homeless Vets and their families in 49 states. Learn more here.
- On the same note, rocker Jon Bon Jovi has also been working to end Veteran homelessness.
- There’s been a lot of talk about steps VA is taking to improve health care accessibility. Among those accommodations are the medical foster home programs, designed for Veterans who are unable to live independently. Read about the story one family who opened their doors to two Veterans.
- In improving PTSD care, sometimes all it takes are tweaks and changes—or in this case, a $7.3 million in renovation. Learn about the VA Puget Sound American Lake Division, called “the best facility” by one Veteran for treating PTSD.
- Thanks to new comprehensive health care strategies for women Veterans, the number of women using VA services for physical and mental health care has more than doubled.
