April spotlight: Our Social Workers

An instrumental opportunity to serve our Veterans

shadow

VA Social Workers are essential to our mission of helping and healing Veterans and their families as they provide comprehensive services through a holistic and psychosocial approach which integrates primary care, physical therapies and other treatment. Our Social Workers work with clients with an inclusive perspective, considering social, environmental, psychological and economic factors as they work on specialized treatment for each patient.

Specifically, they provide clinical and case management for Veterans dealing with an array of issues, from PTSD, to substance abuse, bereavement, and more. VA Social Workers manage crisis intervention, high-risk screenings, provide educational materials and act as the Veteran’s advocate.

When you become part of the team at VA, know that you’ll play an integral role in our Veterans’ lives. You’ll also enjoy a competitive benefits package, including professional, insurance, financial and retirement options. Consider using your skills to give back to our Veterans and search career opportunities in your area today.

I think it would be nice if the VA would offer training to veteran’s for these types of jobs. I was a caseworker with Job & Family Services for 8 years, but I do not have a college degree even though I have over 200 college credits. I cannot afford to pursue the certifications required for this position, and I am a Desert Storm veteran.
