Every year, VA-guaranteed home loans help thousands of Veterans buy their very own home—with no down payment required. VA also provides loans and grants to Veterans with service-connected disabilities for housing alterations such as ramps and widened doors.

On April 27, VA partnered with the National Association of Realtors to answer questions on Facebook about VA home loans and housing-related assistance. The chat addressed questions about eligibility for VA-guaranteed loans, the benefits of using VA home loans, issues involving credit history or bankruptcy, and much more.

The idea that you don’t need an absolutely perfect credit report to get a VA home loan is really not true. I’ve personally seen this happen and have been told likewise. My point in this is why is there a home loan program at all because no veteran is guaranteed a loan. If I have to have a perfect credit rating, I would think I could get a home loan without the VA. There has to be a way to make this process better and there has to be a way where veterans can utilize the program without being so scrutinized over past credit mistakes that were the result of trying to survive while serving in uniform.

I am veteran and I retired from the U.S. Air Force in the beginning of 2015.

I have been appealing my disabilities with the VA since then but, they have been giving me the run around on my permanent disabilities and have kept me on the temporary disability list while at the same time they immediately said they will lower my disability ratings as soon as I am up for evaluation in less than 4 years like they have done to so many other veterans that got messed over by them.

I got in touch with the VA congressional aid multiple times, but they did not do anything to help me.

I wish some at the VA would help me get this resolved.
