SBA’s annual celebration of Veteran and military entrepreneurs

This year’s National Veterans Small Business Week virtual events will take place Nov. 2-6

Beginning Nov. 2, the U.S. Small Business Administration will celebrate, empower and connect Veterans, service members, including National Guard and Reserve, military spouse entrepreneurs, and business owners – past, present, and future – during National Veterans Small Business Week.

Each year, the SBA helps thousands of Veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses start and grow their small businesses. SBA’s Office of Veterans Business Development empowers the Veteran and military small business community during every step of their journey – whether they are writing their business plan or looking to open a second location.

The aim of National Veterans Small Business Week, now in its seventh year, is to raise awareness of Veteran small business ownership and encourage communities to support their local Veteran and military-owned small businesses.

Now more than ever, it is vital for Veteran and military entrepreneurs to be aware of the free and low-cost local resources that are available to help start and grow their small businesses. That’s why the focus for this year’s National Veterans Small Business Week campaign is “#VetBiz Resources in Your Local Community.”

Each day during National Veterans Small Business Week will feature a different theme related to the local resources available for Veterans, no matter where they are in their small business journey.

Calendar

On Day One (Nov. 2), the SBA and local Veterans Business Outreach Centers will feature the local resources available for those interested in transitioning from service to startup, including Boots to Business entrepreneurship training workshops.

On Day Two (Nov. 3), the focus will shift to the nationwide SBA-funded entrepreneurial training programs accessible to women, service-disabled, and procurement ready Veterans and military spouses.

Day Three (Nov. 4) is all about government contracting tips to help Veteran-owned small businesses succeed in the federal marketplace. Please register here to attend our webinar with the Veteran Institute for Procurement.

Day Four (Nov. 5) will cover disaster recovery, with discussions on financial resources and business continuity guidelines. We will be hosting a webinar with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families to share best practices for rebuilding after a disaster and tips for pivoting during the pandemic. The final day (Nov. 6) of National Veterans Small Business Week is dedicated to sharing information to help Veteran entrepreneurs become lender ready, connect with local financial institutions, and acquire capital to fund a new or existing business.
