Army Veteran Laura Bozeman is today's Veteran of the Day.

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Laura Bozeman, a human resources officer who taught English at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

After graduating from Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1988, Laura Bozeman attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She joined the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, becoming part of the Drill Team and the Color Guard. Upon graduating from college, Bozeman commissioned.

Bozeman then served with the 2nd Theater Signal Brigade in Germany. She worked as an assistant adjutant to the adjutant general of the unit. In October 1994, she served as a company executive officer for Allied Land Forces Central Europe As company executive officer, Bozeman handled the administrative aspects of the unit, particularly day-to-day operational duties. In August 1995, Bozeman became deputy adjutant general.

After her tour in Germany, Bozeman returned to the U.S. and completed advanced training. She later became the commander of Alpha Company in the 43rd Adjutant General Battalion, based at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The Adjutant General Battalion is tasked with the reception and in-processing operations for recruits entering Initial Entry Training and ROTC soldiers entering basic combat training. Bozeman served as commander for two years before leaving to enter the Army’s Advanced Civil Schooling Program. This program encourages the professional development of army officers by providing them the opportunity to participate in a fully funded graduate degree program. Bozeman attended the University of Minnesota and received her master’s in English in 2001.

Bozeman then became an English instructor at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. She served as both a professor and assistant professor until 2004.

Bozeman also served South Korea at United States Forces Korea. There, she served as part of the 8th Army’s brigade staff and as chief of the personnel actions branch.

In July 2006, Bozeman left South Korea for Anchorage, Alaska, to work with the Department of Defense in the Military Entrance Processing Command. This department looks at the screening and processing of applicants into the military. In September 2009, Bozeman transferred to United States Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. From 2009 to June 2011, she worked with the Plans and Operation Division of ARPAC. She also served as the command general’s speech writer.

In July 2011, Bozeman deployed to Afghanistan. She served as an advisor to the Afghan National Army Inspector. After returning to the U.S., she earned her doctorate in Philosophy and English literature from the University of Minnesota. When she completed her doctoral program, Bozeman returned to West Point to serve on staff as an assistant professor in philosophy and English. In 2017, she returned to South Korea and joined the 2nd Infantry Division, where she worked as the Equal Opportunity program manager until her retirement in May 2019.

Bozeman currently resides in Anchorage, Alaska.
