The Department of Veterans Affairs, in keeping with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in response to the  COVID 19 virus, is postponing Vietnam War commemoration events until further notice.Vietnam War Veterans can download a frame from Facebook.

As a commemorative partner to the Department of Defense led 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration program, hundreds of events were planned for late March and early April to coincide with the National Vietnam War Veterans Day observance on March 29.

VA’s event coordinators will retain all commemorative lapel pins and other materials shipped from the Department of Defense to support events in the future. Please visit www.vietnamwar50th.com for more information about the program.

For Veterans with a Facebook account, they can download a frame at www.facebook.com/profilepicframes/?selected_overlay_id=908037382943967 to place a picture and show their pride for serving. The frame shows the Vietnam War Veteran day pin and the text “A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You.”

God Bless all the Vietnam Veterans.
    So the story goes:
My wife and I were on our way to a doctors appointment. On the way we passed where the moving VN Wall was being displayed. My wife asked if we should stop. I said no, due to time. On the way back, we did stop. It was then my wife asked me, “Before, was the problem you thought you might
see someone on the wall that you knew ?
I sat quiet for a bit, then answered her.
“No,… the problem is, I knew them all.”

I agree with Jim R. I, too, am a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business President who does not participate in social media, such as Facebook, etc. I, too, would like to receive a “frame”. So, how do I get one?

    Thank You, Barry W. Clark

I am just curious as to the date that is being recognized. Truman signed the paperwork sending advisors into Vietnam May 1st 1950 so that would be the 70th anniversary approaching, and Saigon fell April 30th 1975 so that would be the 45th anniversary. Did they just randomly pick 1970 as the year to count from? I was born in 1960 so missed Vietnam but I did Iraq and the Balkans plus all the 80s and 90s during the Cold War. Not trying to be negative just curious.

When and how will we be notified of the anniversary?

  9. David medeiros

Does that include Vietnam era veterans?

This is indeed a wise decision, I support the posponement Vietnam War commemoration events. It’s high time the world sits back and put ideas together and combat this pandemic. If not, it could wipe off a whole lot of this population. #FightCovid19 #FightCoronavirus

Coronavirus has been halting and postponing all the relevant things happening in the world… Even in the sporting world, it is still affecting the world. I hope soon enough we will get rid of this Pandemic affecting the world.. I was expecting the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War to be postponed also.. Truly the world is coming to an end like people have been predicting.. Love from Nigeria
