You’ve found an amazing job opportunity at VA, polished your resume and are considering applying. How can you learn more about VA’s hiring process, culture and careers before officially throwing your hat into the ring?

Consider talking to a recruiter at the next VA virtual career fair. VA Careers regularly hosts no-cost local, regional or national virtual career fairs where you can chat online with recruiters about a position in information technology, nursing, primary care or another field; learn about which jobs are available in your area; and get tips on submitting a stand-out application.

Here’s how to register and benefit from the next virtual career fair:

Find a virtual event that covers your career preferences.

Keep an eye on the VA Careers’ events page, blog site, Twitter handle and Facebook page for information on the next fair, including registration links. We share a variety of recruiting events throughout the month. (You can also catch up with VA recruiters in the field. The in-person events listed on the Events page are those where VA Careers has a booth or presence.)

Register for the event.

Once you’ve located an event you’re interested in, click the registration link, fill out your contact information and click “Reserve My Spot.” You can also upload a resume as a .pdf, .doc and .docx. First make sure all the information on your resume is accurate and up to date.

Save the date!

Each virtual career fair is available for a specific window of time on the day of the event. Be sure to check the time zone for accurate hours. Use the “Add to Calendar” feature on the VA Careers’ event listing to reserve the day and time on your calendar.

Check your tech.

You’ll be able to connect to the career fair on just about any device — smartphone, tablet, computer — with a reliable internet or wireless connection. Our virtual career fairs are most compatible with Chrome, but you can still connect using Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer. Be sure that your browser settings are updated.

Get questions ready.

Consider jotting down questions ahead of time such as, Which jobs are available in my area? What is the starting salary? What keywords should I put on my resume?

Connect with recruiters.

Through a one-on-one chat session, you can ask a VA recruiter questions about job opportunities and requirements.

Submit the survey and stand by.

Feel free to take the optional survey after the event. Then stand by for recruiters to be in touch over the next days and weeks.

I think you should build a mobile app for this.

I am a 78 year old 20% service connected disabled veteran, legally blind, retired consultant counselor, seeking a virtual on-line job opportunity with the `VA.
I have been a District Director with the Blinded Veterans Association successfully serving more than 200 veterans in northern Florida.
I possess excellent computer and speaking skills.
I am a retired banking Vice President of computer systems development, a Florida State certified Building Contractor, a Toastmaster public speaker, athletic champion, parent, grandfather, coach, etc., etc.
I MOST ENJOY WORKING WITH AND HELPING OTHERS.

Are there any such job possibilities with the VA?

    Thank you,
    David

Where is the link to the event? I applied for numerous jobs at the VA; and I never get an interview or a job offer!! The 10 point preference for vets is a joke! I am also an honorably retired veteran with an MSW. PROVE ME WRONG FAKE NEWS VA!!
