This year, DO IT!A cartoon drawing of a man doing exercises

Remember in basic training, when they MADE you line up outside the barracks at oh-dark-hundred? And you hated it. At first. But you did it.

And then it became routine. And six weeks later, you were thinner and quicker and in better shape and…come on…ENJOYED the routine and the benefits you derived from it.

That’s what this Resolution stuff is all about. Or should be.

A scale

I finally realized I needed to say THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE. I’m not going to lose 15 pounds – and keep it off – in 10 days – like those TV ads.

This will take a while…AND DISCIPLINE! Just like going to the drill pad for six weeks until I finally learned to stay in step.

This is a great video…about Walter…and the smart things, he learned that helped him eat wisely…and get healthy. It also includes some medical issues you don’t think about until the doctor tells you about the risks.

VA has all kinds of programs to help you do this. Hundreds of Veterans are living healthier lives because they took advantage of VA’s MOVE! program. Visit your local VA medical center and sign up!

A MOVE! graphic

I’ve interviewed lots of Veterans who used the MOVE! program and the first thing they tell you is HOW GOOD they feel. You can do that.

But don’t buy those 34-waist jeans just yet. Maybe in August. Remember, you put it all on over years…it’s not going away in weeks. Patience.A cartoon drawing of a man doing exercisesAnd the knowledge that you WILL get there…that you CAN do it.

Here’s the MOVE! link…one click and away you go!
