Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Alexandria Sawin.
Alex served as an aircraft mechanic from January 2010 to November 2016 and was posted at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia and Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. She transitioned into the reserves at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, serving there from December 2016 to December 2018.
While there she pursued a degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. She joined the Rebel Veterans Organization and became chapter president and a Peer Advisor for Veteran Education where she advocated for the academic success of approximately 1600 transitioning military service members.
She aspires to become a primary care physician.
Today, she has been named the 2018 Student Veteran of the Year by Student Veterans of America.
