HillVets announces HillVets LEAD, a premier ethics-based leadership skills training and mentorship program for Veterans wishing to continue serving their country as senior policy leaders tackling tough policy challenges across all agencies and branches of government.

“HillVets LEAD is a program for future leaders of our country through mentorship, training and discussion. LEAD helps develop the capacity of these young leaders through its emphasis on leadership, ethics, advocacy and dedication to self-improvement-LEAD,” said The Honorable Chuck Hagel, member of the HillVets board.

HillVets LEAD is unique in terms of the focus demographic. The inaugural cohort will be comprised of approximately 18 existing policy and communications professionals, in defense, Veterans affairs and communications, who are eager to continue their own growth through 12 weeks of training, networking and mentorship with renowned policymakers, communicator and leadership.

Each pipeline of the program consists of a “fire team” of six Veterans with prioritization for applicants given to HillVets House Fellows, Wounded Warrior Congressional fellows, Capitol Hill staff, HillVets membership, Veteran policymakers at federal agencies, national non-profits, military spouses, surviving spouses and children.

Each policy pipeline will have weekly curriculum led by HillVets ambassadors, who are industry all-stars that have excelled in public policy, media, government, or leadership. Over the course of the program, HillVets LEAD ambassadors, will engage the three cohorts on the topics of leadership, ethics, advocacy and dedication to self-improvement, and their matching policy pipeline.

Applications for the first to join the HillVets LEAD program will be accepted on a rolling basis between Aug. 1through Aug. 31, with the first class and weekly engagements to kicking off  Sept. 12. Those interested in applying should go to www.hillvets.org for the full application and requirements.
