Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Arthur T. Baltazar. Arthur served from 1967 to 1969.
Arthur was drafted into the Army in 1967 to contribute to the war efforts in Vietnam; he had just been married a few months prior to reporting for duty in October of that year. Arthur completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and advanced training in radio operations at Fort Gordon, Georgia, before deploying to Vietnam. Arthur fought alongside the 167th Signal Company and First Field Forces units.
Arthur was honorably discharged in 1969 and returned home to his wife and young child. He is one of five Baltazar sons to serve in the United States Military. After battling with PTSD for several years from his efforts in Vietnam, Arthur continually encourages people to reach out to Vets they know or see on the street to tell them, ‘Thank you for my freedom.’ Those words gave him encouragement in hard times and show our Veterans how much we appreciate all that they do for our country.

Again receiving the Army Achievement Medal from the Secretary of the Army in 1981-83.
