At VA, providing high quality care to America’s Veterans has always been and continues to be our top priority. And our efforts are paying off—according to a new RAND Corporation study, VA hospitals performed “the same or significantly better” than non-VA hospitals for most inpatient and outpatient effectiveness measures. Each of VA’s 150 plus facilities was compared with three health systems of similar characteristics. Despite wide variation within the VA health system, the analysis revealed an overall increase in care quality when compared with its private sector counterparts.
