Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Karen C. Jones. Karen served from 1983 to 2005.

Enlisting after high school in 1983, Karen completed Basic Training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. She later went on to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas for Combat Medic School. After working for various ambulance companies around the country, in 1986 she was transferred to California to work as a medic for a Military Police Department before later then being sent to serve in the Persian Gulf.

After being discharged in 1998, Karen re-enlisted in 2004 and went to Petroleum Truck Driver School and later became a recruiter. Karen went on to participate in and volunteer for the Transitional Work Experience program located in Nevada aimed at easing the transition period for new veterans. Currently, Karen works for the Bay Pines VA Medical Center.

Thank you for your service, Karen!
