Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Marie Terese Pirjevec Cochran. Marie served in the Army Medical Service Corps from 1986 to 2010.

After completing the ROTC program at Bemidji State University in Minnesota, Marie decided to join the Army as a logistics officer. She served a short time in Germany before going to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm in January 1991 with the 128th Combat Support Hospital. During her time there, she obtained and organized materials for the hospital. In an interview with the Veterans History Project, Marie noted that her biggest challenge was acquiring all the necessary uniforms and clothing for the wounded soldiers.

In 2002, Marie was team chief of a Humanitarian Assistance Mission in Uzbekistan. Marie helped support eleven hospitals by giving them equipment such as defibrillators, X-ray machines, and dental equipment, setting up the equipment, and teaching the doctors how to use it.

Thank you for your service, Marie!
