Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Buddy Wayne Knox.
Buddy was born in July 1933 in Texas. Growing up, he played the guitar and harmonica to entertain himself.
He won an athletic scholarship to West Texas State College, where he Jimmy Bowen and Don Lanier to form the group the Serenaders
In 1957, just as his first single, “Party Doll” was becoming a number one hit, he was drafted into the Army.
While he was in the service, his second single “Rock Your Little Baby to Sleep” was issued under the name Lieutenant Buddy Knox.
Buddy died from cancer on February 14, 1999.
We honor his service.
