#VeteranOfTheDay Carlos J. Negron


Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Carlos J. Negron.

Carlos enlisted in the Army in June 2008. After completion of basic training, he was sent to Fort Sam, Houston, Texas, for advance individual training as a combat medic specialist. When Carlos finished AIT, he was assigned to the 426th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team out of Fort Campbell.

Carlos deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. His unit was attacked by insurgents with rifle and small arms fire. Carlos suffered from fatal wounds and died July 10, 2010.

For his service, Carlos received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Arrowhead, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service medal, NATO medal and Weapons Qualification: M4, expert.
