VA telehealth: breaking down barriers to Veteran care

Every day, VA strives to ensure Veterans receive the health care they need, no matter where they are. That’s why we have proposed new initiatives to expand our telehealth services in more than 50 specialties—including intensive care and dermatology—by overriding licensing restrictions and allowing VA providers to treat patients across state lines.

Two of our web-enabled applications are set for a nationwide rollout in the coming year:
• VA Video Connect, which connects Veterans with providers via mobile phone or PC
• Veteran Appointment Request (VAR), which simplifies the scheduling process for Veterans

Utilizing these modern technologies means better, timelier health care for Veterans, particularly those in rural, remote and medically underserved areas. It will also increase the availability of critical mental health and specialty treatment, resulting in improved outcomes overall.

Are you passionate about helping our Veterans heal, both physically and emotionally? Now, you have an opportunity to join us in our mission to give back to all the brave men and women who’ve served, all across America. Explore our open positions and apply today.

Mr. Morris, for questions regarding doing business with VA or our Small Business programs please call (866) 584-2344 to talk to a small business liaison or go here for a local liaison.
I redacted your company name just to be safe. There are many documented cases of contract protests due perceived endorsement by way of publication. I would not want that to hamper your chances of gaining business.
Congratulations on becoming a VA Veteran First certified company. I understand that is a “thorough” process. Other small business considering doing business with VA should visit our small l business office for information on verification as well as opportunities.

  2. Ashlea Hopkins, LCSW

I provide online counseling services in my private practice. I would be glad to be a participating provider.

The more accessible telemedicine becomes to those who need it most, the better health our whole country will be in. With baby boomers now reaching retirement age and beyond, the explosion of telemedicine onto the scene could not have come at a better time.
