I have been screaming for 1 integrated healthcare system for 17 years as a nurse within the VA system. I have said that if the government wants to fix the VA, making one integrated healthcare record would solve the problem. I should be able to open a record on my patient and be able to see their labs, xrays, progress notes, etc from where ever the patient has been within the VA without exiting CPRS (our current system) to go to VistaWeb or Joint Legacy Viewer to get that information. It would also be nice to see their DoD record to assist in continuation of care.

It all sounds like wishful thinking! I can’t coordinate things between the Aurora Clinic, the VA Hospital in Denver and the VA Regional Office in Lakewood (Denver, CO area)! As of yet I haven’t heard about the opening of the troubled new Hospital in Denver/Aurora; so this new electronic system can have a chance to have a hub here in the metro area alone.
I also have a problem that no one seems able to help me with! Employment, whether it’s because I’m a Vet, a disabled Vet, a minority, or a Senior citizen all I can find is minimum wage jobs. I was actually told at a Job fair for Vets that I shouldn’t expect the same pay I was making in the Army as a Major when I retired in 2008. Yes I have tried the VA, and even as a dislocated worker, I am forced to take minimum wage jobs to be able to afford to live here in the Denver metro area. I can’t get ahead so I can leave for areas where I can live on my retirement income. It has me ready to say good bye to America and take my retirement income to Morocco and live there like many gong to Mexico or Coast a Rico.

As an IT professional, it is about time this Implementation has been overdue for many years. I am a retired 100% Disabled Vietnam Veteran. As a user of many VA benefits it pleases me to see the systems comming together. I am a strong user of the My Health Vet this with across the board integration of records keeping we are truly moving in a positive direction. Thank You for the progressive forward thinking.

Don’t really get it, the whole concept i mean. I have been trying to corrdinate my health records for over a year between 3 VA hospitals in the VISN 23 system.Records have been refused, I have a heart condition and Minneapolis Va , Sioux Falls, Ft Meade has been the thorn in the butt. This system could not ne implemented with IG lying in their Investigations. This sounds silly, wishful thinking. Other problems need to be addressed first, that up to this date the VA with all their new ACCOUNTABILITY, Is making proposed programs impossible and very improbable to correct. Just common sense, you need to be committed to changing whats broke first.
    Thanks, Dennis
