Nearly 125 volunteers from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s (IICF) Houston chapter came out to the Houston National Cemetery to clean headstones, flat markers and clean tree rings earlier this week.

The foundation’s Week of Giving takes place every October. To date, more than 218,000 hours have been volunteered by industry employees. This October the Southeast division will host four volunteer projects at the national cemeteries in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin, with over 100 volunteers at each. This is the first volunteer project for the newly launched Houston chapter and the board members and their employees helped the cemetery staff clean headstones, mulch and weed.
