Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Hanif Sangi.

Hanif immigrated from Pakistan and served in the Army as a 13B Field Artillery for more than 8 years (August 2000-Feb 2009).

After graduating boot camp, he was stationed at Fort Hood TX with Charlie Battery, 1-82FA 1st Cavalry’s DIVARITY.

Hanif was part of the Task Force who participated in Operation Desert Spring in Kuwait. Hanif performed duties as the driver of M109 155mm SP Howitzer, Humvee, Unit Armor, Gunner and Ammunition Crew Chief.

Following the tragedies on Sept. 11, 2001, Hanif joined United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). He spent 4 years with USASOC and deployed a few times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Hanif spent his last tour at U.S Army Cold Regions Test Center in Fort Greely Alaska where he was a Senior Project NCO responsible for Army’s developmental testing in extreme cold and sub-arctic natural environment in order to provide accurate, and relevant information relating to system performance.

After separating in 2009, Hanif used the Post 9/11 GI Bill and Army Tuition Assistance to complete his MBA in Management from Strayer University in Washington D.C; an Executive Leadership certificate from Cornell University, Emerging Leaders Program from Harvard Kennedy School, and Senior Executive Fellows Program from Harvard Kennedy School. He excelled in all those programs funded by G.I.Bill.

Hanif is a founder of Saharo Foundation, which has the goal to improve the lives of underprivileged in South Asia, specifically in Pakistan.

He now resides in Ellicott City, Maryland where he lives with his wife and three beautiful children.

Thank you for your service, Hanif.
