If you’re reading my blog post, I’m guessing you’ve been exploring VACareers, the VA Careers social sites, or maybe know someone working with VA. Those are some great resources for finding literally hundreds of career opportunities that fit your professional ambitions. But if you want to take your career search to the next level, why not come out and meet VA recruiters and employees in person?

VHA participates in some of the health care industry’s most notable conferences, like AHA, ACEP, and NBNA and others. The concentration of knowledge and skill among the medical professionals at these events provides us the perfect opportunity to introduce ourselves to experienced professionals and those new to the field, and let them know what it’s like to work with so many Veterans.

We’re also taking part in career fairs across the U.S. over the next few months and throughout 2017. We’ve contracted with CareerMD.com to have VHA recruiters and/or SMEs at career fairs within driving distance of nearly every major teaching hospital in the country. So I can almost guarantee you’ll find an event near you. We will be in Chicago, Houston, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Syracuse, Washington, D.C., and many more locations.

Speaking of locations … did you know that with just one active license, VHA employees can work in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and the Philippines? So whether you want to enjoy living by the beach, rural communities, in the countryside, or in a bustling metropolis, chances are you’ll find a VHA facility nearby.

The career fairs are free to attend, but we encourage you to RSVP in advance. To see a list of all the events and find a career fair near you, visit the VA Career events page.

And if you can’t make it to one of these events, you can always visit VACareers to find the opportunity that suits you best. Either way, we look forward to seeing you soon!
