Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Christopher Evanson.
Chris joined the Coast Guard in November 2001 and served as a Public Affairs Specialist.
During his time in service, Chris was a crewmember aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Vashon and was an on-the-record spokesperson. He spent eleven years on active duty, working in places such as Key West, Florida; Washington, D.C.; and Jacksonville, Florida. He also served on deployments to China, Haiti, Guyana, and assisted on the Gulf Coast during Hurricane Katrina.
While in garrison, Chris had the unique opportunity to serve in the Presidential Honor Guard where he stood watch over the casket of Ronald W. Reagan.
He was awarded two Coast Guard Achievement Medals and a Humanitarian Service Medal for his selfless and exemplary service.
Thank you for your service, Chris!
