Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Jess Houghton.

Jess served in the Navy from 2010 to 2014 as an AME Aviation Structure Mechanic.

While on active duty, she did three deployments on the USS George Washington participating in two humanitarian relief missions and numerous multinational joint training exercises.

She was awarded Blue Jacket Sailor of the Year in 2012 at Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 115 (VAW-115) and has also received two Navy Achievement Medals.

Jess has continued her service in the Navy Reserves as an IS Intelligence Specialist.

She is currently using her Post 9/11 GI Bill to pursue her bachelors and masters degree at American University. Jess is also an intern at Student Veterans of America working on policy to support student veterans.
