Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Barbara A. Jumper. Military service came naturally to Barbara, who is the daughter of a career Army Officer and a WWII Army nurse, and whose brother served in Vietnam. She joined the Army as a nuclear weapons specialist and served from 1975 – 1978. During her time in service she was stationed at Ft. McClellan and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Ft. Hood, Texas; and Kreigsfeld ARG, Germany. She reached the rank of specialist and was an expert with the M16 rifle.

After her time in service, Barbara continued her dedication to community service in her town of Harrisburg, PA. She graduated from college and served as a senior social worker and expert resource for people with mental health issues. For the past several years she travels with her husband, Bob, to participate in Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery. She has been involved with POW/MIA efforts and is known for her endless energy and willingness to help when help is needed.

Thank you for your service, Barbara!
