Ruth Moore served her country in the Navy and paid a price no one expects — sexual assault. As a two-time victim, it took her years to find her way, but now she helps others survive the pain she suffered. Moore now works with VA and shares her story to help raise consciousness about military sexual trauma, or MST.
Every VA health-care facility provides free treatment for mental and physical health conditions related to MST. Each location also has a MST coordinator, who serves as a point person for Veterans and VA staff on issues related to MST. And all staff across VA are asked to be sensitive to the experience of Veterans who have experienced MST.
