I feel your pain Bro…..I just spent an hour and a half trying to get an eye appt. on the MHV website and finally gave up. As a final resort I call patient rep in Dallas and they tell me the only way to get to see an eye doc. is to have my primary care doc. make an appt for me. WTF ! my PC has never asked about my eyes and why should they ? they are PC ! the eye ppl should make the eye care appts……meanwhile I have to close one eye to focus on whatever I’m trying to see………..I tried to get some hydrocodone for pain………..may as well have asked for free pass to heaven…………..fubar

I know it sucks but your PC is the start point to see any specialists. I too feel I should be able to go straight to what ever specialist I need without having to make, yet another, appointment with my PC but I have found that this is just what it is. Go to your PC on a walk in and get that referral. Hang in there dude!

I completely understand your frustration as I have had the same problems with the VA. I don’t know what facility you use, however, all I can say is at my facility I have found a very few providers that actually care about providing the best possible care for us veterans and I hang oon to them for dear life. I have heard that the VA is approving outside care more often now so maybe you could ask for that. Also, you don’t have to stick with the same providers, you do have the right to request and get a new provider if you are not happy with your current provider. Good luck to you!!!
