    The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, which includes four Marine Corps Veterans, claimed gold at the 2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Buffalo, New York on Sunday. The team earned its fourth consecutive shutout with a 3-0 victory over Canada. Team USA includes Marine Corps Veterans Luke McDermott, Josh Misiewicz, Paul Schaus and Josh Sweeney.

    In 2000, I ran. I was still running away from the guilt, shame, and anger of what I went through in the war. Chronic homelessness and life on the streets became my new reality until I found out about the VA Leeward CBOC in 2013. Another homeless Veteran friend of mine saw me on the streets and said he had been getting help from the H-PACT team. He told me to go get help.

  • 2015 National Veterans Creative Arts Competition underway

    The 2015 National Veterans Creative Arts Competition began on January 1st. During the months of January, February and March, Veterans enrolled at VA medical facilities or outpatient clinics are invited to enter their art, music, dance, drama and creative writing entries into the local competition phase. It’s an exciting time with art exhibits and performances by Veterans occurring across the country.

    Co-Presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the National Veterans Wheelchair Games is a rehabilitation and wheelchair sports program empowering Veterans to live more active and healthy lives through wheelchair sports and recreation. Veterans with a Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Amputation or other neurological injury that uses wheelchair for sport, and are eligible for care in the VA can participate.
