VBA’s Twitter Town Hall Series: Home Loans and Specially Adapted Housing

Headshot of author Richard Allen SmithLast month, the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) conducted our first ever Twitter Town Hall and chatted with Veterans about returning to school on the Post-9/11 GI Bill. We thought the event was quite a success, and so did Secretary Shinseki.  As a result, he asked us to make Twitter Town Halls a monthly event for VBA to talk to the Veterans we are proud to serve about our programs. Honestly, we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to regularly interact with Vets and answer their questions.

If you have more questions about VA Home Loans or Specially Adapted Housing Grants, you can likely find the answers on the Loan Guaranty Service home page. We also answer benefits related questions from our VBA twitter feed.

Our Twitter Town Hall Series will continue to be a monthly feature, and we’ll be choosing a different topic for each event. Feel free to leave a comment or tweet us a suggested topic, and follow our Twitter account to get updates on VA Benefits and find out instantly when we schedule our future town halls.

This month, we chose the subject of VA Guaranteed Home Loans and Specially Adapted Housing Grants. VA Home Loans are the most successful home loan program in the country, and often require no down payment. Specially Adapted Housing Grants help Veterans build a home that is adapted to their disability, or provide funds to modify an existing home.

We received great questions from Veterans, and thought it would be a good idea to share these exchanges, as many other Vets likely have the same questions. Follow along below to see our interactions during last week’s Twitter Town Hall.
