To excel as an employer, it’s essential to know what’s working for employees and what isn’t. So let’s take a look at some recent Glassdoor reviews to see where our organization is thriving and where it can improve.

The best of VA
Among the numerous strengths noted are outstanding benefits and perks. These include the Federal Employees Retirement System (one of the top retirement plans available), as well as generous paid time off, flexible scheduling and other offerings that help ensure a healthy work-life balance.

Career growth and mobility also make the list, thanks in part to our wealth of education support, variety of specialties, and large number of locations throughout the nation. Additionally, only one state clinical license is needed to practice at any VA facility, allowing for advancement with minimal boundaries.

Above all, team members here enjoy serving patients who have served America. It’s a unique chance to give back to those who’ve given so much for our country. And it’s an honor that comes with unmatched fulfillment, both professionally and personally.

Opportunities for improvement

As the largest integrated health care system in the United States, VA requires thousands of workers, so staffing can be challenging. This is especially true when it comes to hard-to-fill positions such as physician, nursing, pharmacy and managerial roles.

In turn, we offer several hiring programs and incentives designed to attract, develop and retain quality leaders, medical specialists, interns and other people who share our commitment to clinical and service excellence. We also regularly participate in various career-related events nationwide to boost our recruitment efforts. Through these and other initiatives, we continue to build a team of highly satisfied – and productive – employees.

What care are you talking about? I have been to McGuire in Richmond VA several times. I fall frequently. 5 weeks ago they promised to get me a motorized wheel chair. Within 1/2 mile from my home is the store that they said the shooter will be delivered to.. They have plenty of these in stock, but the V A said they have to order one from their own provider. I am still waiting for one. This week I fell and broke my knee. Richmond also ordered me a pair of glasses 5 weeks ago after waiting many weeks for an eye exam. They still haven’t arrived. When I fell I broke my glasses. I had to order a replacement pair with my own funds. Locally they were able to make a pair the same day.

      Under ADA
title II state and local government activities : I am denied equal treatment when I cannot benefit with the ordinance changes made by Franklin TWP that only benefit the oil company (XTO) and destroys my health requirements . They disregard my rights as a 100% service connected disabled veteran with disabilities to provide an environment that will not affect the health of my immune system, respiratory , circulatory , and hearing difficulties. Under the ADA this is discrimination against me by the TWP changing residential/agricultural only zoning by adding heavy industrial without any regard to citizens complaints or needs .

I am a 100% service connected disabled Vietnam veteran who’s health is plagued by brittle diabetes , high blood pressure and cancer .
The Pa state DEP in their website states that Marcellus shale drilling causes
disease from the toxic chemicals they use . My diabetes was caused by a toxic chemical . I have a compromised immune system from agent orange.
Franklin twp is allowing a Marcellus shale drill site on a zoned agricultural / residential only farm property very close to my property . This drilling causes environmental problems to drinking water, air quality and pollution of property. Franklin twp has changedy their local ordinance to add gas drilling to a residential only area only to benefit a gas company and discriminate against the disabled diseased handicapped mentally disturbed elderly and children .

The chemicals released from this fracking site will impact my respiratory system and get into my blood stream as did agent orange . This will be very destructive to my health once the drilling starts. I have told the twp that drilling will destroy my health but they won’t listen. I anticipate circulatory problems, respiratory difficulties, eye problems and my diabetes
to go out of control . I take 5 to 6 shots of insulin now to control my diabetes every day .
