Now that 2017 is here, you may wonder how you’re going to stick with your career plan throughout the New Year. Don’t worry, because we have a few tips that will help ensure you make your professional visions a reality.

Verbalize Your Goals

If you tell people what your goals are, they (especially loved ones) will typically ask about your progress from time to time. And when it happens, you’ll want to have a good answer for them, giving you an extra incentive to actually do what you said you were going to do in the first place.

Tap into Your Support Systems

Help is all around you, whether you realize it or not. Maybe you have a supervisor or another trusted colleague that can help guide you in your career pursuits. Or perhaps there’s a free resource online that’s just what you need. All you have to do is identify great resources in your network and make the most of them.

Never Rest on Your Laurels

Even if you’re exceeding your current expectations in your career, there’s always room to improve. And one of the most important keys to improvement is knowledge. That’s why VA employees are given access to education support and other resources that help them explore, discover and reach their full potential. In turn, they’re able to perform at their best for patients and take Veteran care to the next level.
