As America’s largest employer of nurses, VA offers many career opportunities to nursing professionals at every experience level throughout the nation. And to help those interested in joining our growing team, we’re providing tips you can use to prove that you have what it takes to advance Veteran care in 2017 and beyond.

Demonstrate Leadership & Critical Thinking

Nurses at VA are expected to direct comprehensive health strategies for patients through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. So whether you’re experienced in guiding others, assessing and improving care quality, or other crucial aspects of nursing, show that you’re a good leader who can think critically when needed.

Build Knowledge & Experience

You can never have too much knowledge or experience when it comes to caring for Veterans. That’s why you should be open to furthering your education and gaining more experience whenever and wherever possible. This can be accomplished by taking classes, volunteering at a local VA facility, or doing anything else that makes you a better nurse. And if you become a full-time member of our team, you’ll have access to one of the most comprehensive education support programs in the country.

Practice Patience, For Patients

It’s easy to feel rushed in this profession. But at VA, taking your time with patients is a priority. Not only does it help ensure their safety, it also makes them feel valued, which is essential to forming meaningful relationships with them. For these reasons, you should be mindful of practicing patience at all times.

If you’re ready to start your VA nursing career today, pursue your opportunity to serve those who’ve bravely served our nation.

sure why not use the poor veterans as guinea pigs nurses and aspiring doctors to practice on. I am crippled now because of a bad epidural shot given but a kid who thought he was a Doctor….I could go on but what is the point…call me if you want more information…I am working up a story for TV such as on Sean Hannity and other channels…show up in a wheel chair and explain the failure to diagnose and treat something easy which I had diagnosed and told the doctors about but they did nothing for years until another doctor in another department saw it and agreed with me and went over heads but it was to late for me then and things have just gotten worse with kids practicing epidural shots on me and now I am crippled….
