VA chiropractic residency programs have reached a historic first by receiving accreditation from the Council of Chiropractic Education. These are the first residency programs in the nation ever to be awarded this distinction, a significant advancement in the evolution of chiropractic education.

In 2014, VA launched its chiropractic residency program as a three-year pilot project at five VA facilities located in West Haven, Connecticut; Buffalo and Canandaigua, New York; St. Louis, Missouri; and Los Angeles, California. The programs provide postgraduate clinical training in integrated chiropractic practice, focused on team-based care and inter-professional education.

“Along with serving our nation’s Veterans, providing innovative training opportunities for health care professionals is a key component of VA’s Mission,” said Dr. Karen Sanders, deputy chief officer, VA Office of Academic Affiliations. “The accreditation of our chiropractic residency programs demonstrates VA’s commitment to preparing providers who will serve Veterans and the Nation.”

As part of the program, residents provide clinical care mentored by senior VA chiropractors, participate in clinical rotations in relevant specialties such as rehabilitation, primary care, and pain medicine, and participate in inter-professional scholarly activities. This advanced training gives chiropractic residents vital experience and the competencies needed to serve patients in VA facilities, other integrated healthcare settings and/or academia.

Ask VA provider or primary care Dr. for chiropractic care at the VA facility nearest you, even though it is out of town, for you and since they claim it isn’t approved by VA you can point out the facilities that do. Most Dr. don’t know Chiropractic has been approved by VA as this article shows.

That’s because the va is so far behind the times and most regeniol offices are corrupt, that’s why the va doesn’t have enough money to implement great programs

As a pioneering founding Trustee of the first fully accredited Chiropractic College in America (New York Chiropractic College) serving eventually as Acting Chairman of the Board, I was at the forefront of bringing Chiropractic care to the military and the VA. I’m happy to see that 20 YEARS later my efforts have shown some fruit.

Yes, We vets do need outside Chiropractic care, and not 10 years from now. We can send billions of dollars to the middle east, and never bat an eye. Ok, Uncle Sam wake up, and take care of aging veterans

When is chiropractic care going to be as readily available as and MD for maintenance not just acute situations. Many with long term are cut off from outside care because it is deemed non acute…For me some days I can walk some days I can’t but the local VA has determined to no longer cover chiropractic care outside the VA and I have never been referred to one within the system
Let’s get Chiropractic as available as and MD Everywhere. There are 2 chirpractic schools in St Petersburg FL so why is it not available on the Campus for treatment?
