According to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA, 2,499 Americans were lost on invasion day.  This Friday, we honor their memory and those who have since passed and we celebrate those D-Day Veterans still with us at ceremonies in France and in the small community of Bedford, Virginia, a community that gave more than any other to that fateful day and rest of World War II.  This story gives us a look at both sides of the Atlantic then and today.
